Katy Perry Is ‘Totally Not Looking’ for a Boyfriend
Filed Under: News

With a new movie out and a new album in the works, Katy Perry is juggling a lot. But there’s one thing she definitely won’t be making time for: a serious boyfriend.

“For me, right now, I’m totally not looking,” says Perry, 27, in an interview with USA Today. “I’m just looking to heal. And I’m on that path. I’m not down on love.”

Perry, who recently finalized her divorce from Russell Brand, also skirts questions about her relationship with Florence and the Machine guitarist Robert Ackroyd.

“That’s not even appropriate to label,” she says. “There are times I go out and meet people and flirt, but it’s not really appropriate to have anything serious.”

Perry’s documentary, Part of Me, chronicles the struggles that the “Teenage Dream” singer and Brand faced during their marriage. At one point, a devastated Perry is seen crying backstage before a concert in Brazil. “I left in all of those scenes where I don’t look very flattering,” she says. “Because that’s me.”

Now, Perry says she’s “older” and “wiser.”

“My fairy-tale has absolutely changed,” she says. “I don’t need the Prince Charming to have my own happy ending. I can make the happy ending myself.”

Katy Perry’s Grandma Reveals All in ‘Part of Me 3D’ — EXCLUSIVE VIDEO
Filed Under: News

Katy Perry could have delivered a straight-up 3D concert film with her new movie Part of Me, but along with eye-popping footage of her stage show, the singer decided to splice in a glimpse into her own history. Chronicling one’s own life can be a difficult task — how do you stay honest and critical? — but Perry makes a wise choice: enlisting the help of her grandmother. Perry’s wonderfully sassy grandma is a highlight of the film, never afraid to pull back the curtain on Perry’s childhood. Adjectives Perry’s Grandma Ann uses to describe her include “silly,” “beautiful,” “show-off,” and “awful.” Adjective we use for Grandma Ann: “hilarious.”

Hollywood.com Review of “Part of Me”

There’s a moment that will make any music enthusiast stop and think in Katy Perry’s candy-coated, light-as-air 3D concert movie Katy Perry: Part Of Me 3D. In the film, the chart-topping pop star talks about how listening to Alanis Morissette’s iconic album Jagged Little Pill changed her life. It’s interesting to think about these artists, not just in the disparity between their respective music and image, but, really, how similar these Glen Ballard-produced megastars really are at the core. Both had well-documented break-ups and both hit the scene at a time when there was a distinct void for their brand of entertainment. But herein lies the big question: will their careers ultimately wind up taking the same trajectory? Wouldn’t it be far more fascinating — when all the pixie dust settles — to see where Perry is a little further down the road?

Katy Perry: Watching My New Movie Was ‘Not Always Very Fun’
Filed Under: News

When putting together her new concert documentary Part of Me, Katy Perry revisited several memories from the past year – and not all of them were pleasant.

In the film, Perry opens up about her split from Russell Brand at the end of last year.

“It’s not always very fun [watching the footage],” Perry, 27, told reporters at the Los Angeles premiere of the movie. “It’s not like going out with your friends and having a drink and having a great time, but it’s important to show that real people sometimes have to go through things in order to achieve things. Nothing great comes easily.”

After a whirlwind few months in both her personal and professional life, Perry said she’s ready for a break.

“I think I’m going to go into a cave after this, which might be appropriate,” she joked to PEOPLE at the premiere. “It might be a little bit cooler than this. I would love to … be in a beautiful, unplugged place where there’s not a lot going on so that I can get back in tune … and hopefully write some good songs.”

A vacation would be well deserved. Perry said she was hands-on throughout the making of Part of Me, even after filming was finished.

“I didn’t give up any creative control,” she said. “I was in the edit bay every single time.”

Adds the singer: “I do everything myself. I’m a control freak.”

Katy Perry Talks “Rough Times” with Russell Brand, Hangs with Robert Ackroyd
Filed Under: News

Behind the scenes of Katy Perry’s mega, 11-month long California Dreams tour, things were not always so candy-colored and dreamlike.

“I love being onstage, and even though I went through some pretty tough times last year, I had to separate that because I know my problems are my problems and they are not the audience’s problems,” the “Part of Me singer” told British talk show host Graham Norton during her appearance on The Graham Norton Show on Thursday. (Perry’s husband, Russell Brand, filed for divorce on December 30, 2011 — just weeks before the wrap of her multi-continent tour.)

Having fully embraced showbiz’s No. 1 rule, “The show must go on,” Perry braved through her marriage problems and gave it her all during each of her 124 concerts — a feat that is captured in her upcoming 3D documentary, Katy Perry: Part of Me, which hits theaters July 5.

“They are here to see a show and to be entertained, so I got on that lift, put a smile on my face and went up (onstage) with my t–s spinning!” she explained to Norton.

Later that night, Perry went on a dinner date with her off-on beau Robert Ackroyd (guitarist for Florence + The Machine) in London. The pair, who started dating after they were photographed kissing at Coachella Music Festival in April, supposedly cooled off late last month.

Last month, the 27-year-old pop superstar answered the question on all her fans’ minds: Will the film capture her separation from her husband of 14 months?

“I thought it was important to show everything in between,” Perry told Ellen DeGeneres on Ellen May 22. “I think sometimes people think that we’re perfect, and we know we’re not perfect, at all.”

“I decided to put everything into the film. In the most tasteful way. But mostly it’s about how I got there and the ride along the way, which can be bumpy. But mostly, it was extremely fun.”

Katy Perry to Perform on NBC’s ‘Macy’s 4th of July Fireworks Spectacular’
Filed Under: News

Katy Perry won’t simply be celebrating the nationwide release of her ‘Katy Perry: Part of Me’ 3D film over the Fourth of July weekend! The ‘Wide Awake’ singer will also celebrate America’s 236th birthday.

She will perform at the ‘Macy’s 4th of July Fireworks Spectacular,’ which airs on NBC. It is said to be the largest pyrotechnic display on the Fourth, and it will return to the Hudson River region to illuminate the NYC sky.

Country superstar Kenny Chesney has also been confirmed to perform.

This year’s theme is ‘Ignite the Night,’ and more than 45,000 pyro shells will be fired off during the 25-mintue display.

Tune in from 9 to 10PM on Wednesday, July 4, to catch the majestic fireworks display. Then hit the multiplex on July 5 to take in a screening of Perry’s doc.

“NBC is thrilled to have Katy Perry and Kenny Chesney join us in celebrating America’s birthday,” said Doug Vaughan, Senior Vice President of NBC Entertainment’s Special Programs and Late Night said in a statement. “These stars’ powerful voices and stage presence will serve as the perfect complement to Macy’s captivating visual artistry.”

While we’re sure the fireworks will be spectacular and jaw-dropping, we’re tuning into to see what Perry wears. She will undoubtedly incorporate recognizable American symbols, like the flag, into her outfit. Maybe she’ll figure out a way to factor fireworks themselves into her attire? Her clothes are often as entertaining as her songs, so hopefully, her outfit will be interactive.

Perry did wear a one-shouldered, satin American flag dress (and smooched a sailor) during Fleet Week this year.

That Katy Perry – such a patriot!

Katy Perry Dances to Britney Spears at West Hollywood Night Club
Filed Under: Gossip, News

Katy Perry seemed to be in quite an upbeat mood on Saturday night when she made her way to Club Robertson’s Rasputin night in West Hollywood.

Right across the street from local celebrity favorite spot The Abbey, the “Part of Me” singer didn’t go incognito as entered the venue with her purple hair capping off a red dress .

“The DJ announced a little after midnight that she was there,” a club-goer tells PEOPLE. “She partied at a booth with a bunch of males who definitely appeared to be just friends. She had some kind of beverage in her hand.”

Standing on a banquette at one point, the source says Perry “danced to Britney Spears’ s hit ‘…Baby One More Time.’

“Katy was in a roped-off area, but she was still accessible to her fans,” the source adds. “She was posing for photos with people at the club and seemed to be having a great time.” That’s for sure: that night, the singer quoted Spice Girls on Twitter, writing, “If you wanna be my lover you gotta get with my friends. #fact.”

Once it was announced that Perry was on the premises, the source says, “The line got super long and it was really hard for people to get in.”
